OUR MISSION

Inspired by Angellyh Yambo’s legacy, the Angellyh Yambo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community-based organization dedicated to preventing gun violence by advancing education, youth empowerment, public awareness, and community engagement. We work to build safer communities throughout The Bronx, New York, and across the nation by partnering with schools, community organizations, families, and service providers to advance prevention strategies and expand opportunities for youth.

Our youth-focused programs and community initiatives educate, equip, and empower the next generation while strengthening the resources and protective factors that contribute to their growth and development.

We are committed to ensuring that no family experiences the pain and loss our family has endured. By expanding education, strengthening collaboration, and inspiring action, we strive to create neighborhoods where children and teens have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to build positive futures.

THE ANGELLYH YAMBO FOUNDATION

The Angellyh Yambo Foundation was created in loving memory of our niece, Angellyh, whose life was tragically taken by gun violence. Though her time with us was far too short, her kindness, dreams, and the impact she made continue to inspire our commitment to creating change.

We honor Angellyh’s legacy by building safer communities in The Bronx and expanding opportunities for young people. Through prevention-focused programs grounded in mentorship, resources, and opportunities, we provide youth with the tools and support needed to reach their goals and become leaders in their communities.

Our primary prevention approach focuses on strengthening protective factors and addressing the root causes that influence youth outcomes. Through education, the arts, technology, workforce development, entrepreneurship, wellness, mentorship, mental health support, and leadership development, we create pathways that cultivate resilience, confidence, leadership, and belonging.

We work alongside youth, families, schools, community organizations, and local leaders to address the challenges impacting young people and create opportunities for growth. Through programming, advocacy, and policy engagement, we are committed to expanding access to resources, advancing equity, and building a future where all young people can achieve their full potential.

We also collaborate with policymakers, community leaders, and organizations to advance solutions that strengthen safety, address root causes of violence, and expand opportunity for the next generation. Our work is grounded in the belief that sustainable change requires collective effort and commitment.

Every initiative of the foundation carries Angellyh’s memory by transforming grief into action. We are committed to uplifting youth and families, strengthening communities, and building a Bronx where every young life is protected and every dream has a chance to succeed.
