Board

The Board of Directors oversees management on behalf of our foundation. It accomplishes this through direct action and by delegating to its various committees.

MARY HERNANDEZ

CEO, and Founder

CEO and Founder of the Angellyh Yambo Foundation is a dedicated daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who has taken on one of the biggest challenges of her life. After the tragic murder of her niece Angellyh Yambo, Mary began a foundation to commemorate her niece. Her drive to make a change in the community led her to create The Bronx-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the  Angellyh Yambo Foundation, Inc. Born and raised in The Bronx to a Puerto Rican Father and an Ecuadorian Mother, Mary has seen the many changes The Bronx has undergone. Tragedy and loss have not deterred her from  receiving  an M.B.A. in Business Administration with a double major in Finance and Managerial Analytics with distinction. After the loss of her beloved father at a crucial age, Mary worked hard to  climb up the ranks in the corporate world.

FRANCESCA DIBLASI

Francesca DiBlasi has been working as a School Counselor at University Prep since 2013.  However, she started her career as a Counselor in NYC DOE Transfer Schools back in 2007.  During her 17 years as a counselor, she developed a passion for working with young people, identifying student needs and developing interventions to ensure student success.  Ms. DiBlasi enjoys being an advocate for young people and working with students to empower them and help them find their voice. Ms. DiBlasi had the privilege of being Angellyh Yambo’s counselor during her freshman year at UPrep. She had the opportunity to work closely with Angellyh and developed a strong relationship with her.  She feels blessed to have known her, to have loved her and to continue to pursue justice in Angie’s honor.  Ms. DiBlasi’s favorite words to live by are “You may encounter defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, and how you can still come out of it.” – Maya Angelou

YANELY HENRIQUEZ

Yanely Henriquez, was born in the Dominican Republic where she lived with her parents and sister. Yanely describes her childhood as wonderful, filled with love, morals, and structure. Yanely’s parents migrated to the USA in 1989. During this trip, Yanely and her sister remained with their maternal grandmother but later came to the US at the age of 9. The family resided in Riverside Drive by the Hudson River with an aunt who allowed the family to stay until they were able to move to Washington Heights. Her daughter, Angellyh was 16 years old when she was tragically taken and while Yanely struggles every day, she knows that she must continue to work towards making sure Angellyh’s legacy lives on. The Angellyh Yambo Foundation will work towards bringing awareness to the community on gun violence and the effects it has on mothers and families. Yanely currently works for Phipps Neighborhoods as a Case Manager. She has been with this company for 14 years working diligently while raising her three children.

Anthony Roccamo

After graduating from Iona College in 1981, I worked at Coopers &; Lybrand in Stamford from September 1981 to April 1982. I was let go when tax season ended and became a staff accountant at Shepis and Shepis in New Rochelle. A position opened up at the two-man firm of Vincent Cerow and Co. P.C., where I was employed from January 1983 to July 1987. Mr. Cerow retired and his partner, Stephen B. Nathan asked me to become his partner in Nathan and Roccamo in July 1987. I passed the New York State CPA exam in 1985. In mid-2006 Mr. Nathan semi-retired and I partnered with David Walton in the Bronx. Soon after, a friend of mine introduced us to both his brother-in-law, an attorney, and his accountant, Ross DiMaggio. We formed Walton, O’Sullivan, Roccamo and DiMaggio in 2006. Soon thereafter Mr. O’Sullivan decided to stay as an ADA with New York City and Mr.Walton accepted employment in Maryland. Ross DiMaggio and I formed DiMaggio and Roccamo CPA’s LLP in 2007 and we’ve been together since then, except for two and one-half years when both of us joined Mordfin Group in Great Neck as partners (2015 to 2017). We left together in July 2017 and resumed our practice as a two-man firm in Glen Cove, New York.

Evelyn Torres

Evelyn Torres, advocate, leader, administrator, artist and community activist, has dedicated the past decade to the creation and evolution of the Foxy Family, a growing local and regional organization whose mission includes identifying, helping and changing the lives of disadvantaged people in need of others with whom to relate in the process of becoming independent and productive. Ms. Torres, the CEO and co-founder of this remarkable organization, is the very definition of an individual who has utilized her own life’s challenges and adversities to become a woman with the talents and vision to turn others dreams into realities that not only teach less fortunate people how to learn to help themselves but also to give back to society and community thereby creating networks of social, educational, cultural and artistic resources for children and adults to utilize.

In 2012, Ms. Torres helped organize community outreach, food bank and clothing drives, and networking services for survivors of Super Storm Sandy. Partnering with her vast affiliation of volunteers, her efforts provided food, shelter and comfort to people in Sandy Hook and surrounding communities in the wake of the storm’s devastation. That role will continue as more individuals affected by the natural disaster are identified and assisted. Ms.Torres also has helped create and organize pet shelter rescue and service activities. She holds a firm belief in the special connections between human beings and their pets and the ability of that relationship to help create harmony in life.
